About the University
The State Institute of the Russian Language named after A.S. Pushkin (Pushkin Institute) is a leading Russian scientific and educational center whose mission is to spread and support the Russian language in the world. The date of the Institute's foundation: 1966. The President of the Russian Federation, during a visit to the Institute, announced the establishment of the Day of the Russian Language, which since 2011, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, has been celebrated on June 6, the birthday of the great Russian poet A.S. Pushkin.
